I Have Chosen My Own Path

I have chosen
to disconnect
all the buttons
you have become so adept
at pushing

Each day
I take another step
away from you
toward him
and my future

I am still afraid
of what the future holds
but with every day that passes
and every time I hear his voice
my fear diminishes

Now, as I walk through life
I  hold my head up high
and even if I stumble or fall
I see amazing things
and chose my own path
