Creativity
Art
 Inspiration

When you see those words what comes to mind? Are you a "creative"? Do you write, draw, compose, paint, dye, design, or create things that are unique to you?

I want to know your thoughts on any or all of those three words. In whatever context you chose to write about. What do you create? How do you do it? What inspires you? What are your thoughts on art in general? Anything. It can be insightful, poignant, funny--whatever--I want to know what YOU think.

I will be contacting people directly but don't wait for me...if you are interested you can send me a DM on Twitter (@BrightEyedDyer) or send an email to DyedBrightHere (at) gmail (dot) com. If I'm not already following you on Twitter, just give a yell and I'll correct that.

Thank you all in advance...I can't wait to find out what you think, what inspires your creativity.

**You can email your posts to me at the above address. I'm not looking to intrude too much on anyone's busy schedule so the deadline is when you can get it done (preferably in the next few weeks). I am hoping to start running them in a couple of weeks. One every day or other day depending on how many of you are brave enough...

Thank you again!

~~Added on 2/18/12:  This post and the response it generated were the catalyst to a little site called Chocolate Scotch. I am still seeking guest posts and would love to include you and your thoughts in this project.   Sue~~

  1. Actually, what comes to mind for me is that those words don't apply to me. I know it's funny, but I don't think of my writing as creative. Art and music, now those are creative. Writing. . .well, it's probably just because it's something I can do reasonably well, as opposed to art and music. Wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have me as a member, etc, etc.

As for inspiration, inspiration is literally everywhere. Anything in the world, any idea, could be inspiration. Stories start with one idea most of the time.

  2. I understand what you are saying. Being able to tell a story is a gift. I know because I haven't managed to do that...yet. Because something comes easily, does not lessen the creativity involved; it simply means you are very good at it.

  3. I'm happy to give it a try, but I really rather feel like Edward G. Talbot about the whole thing.. I don't think of my self as an artist....
    :D

Lets see, maybe I can at least come up with something vaguely entertaining :D I'll give it a whirl.

  4. There is no entertainment requirement. Just be you and send in your thoughts on creativity, art, and or inspiration.

  5. I have to agree with Edward G. Talbot and spinndiva, don't think of myself as particular creative, but keep plugging along, making an attempt at it.
I guess it's the inner promise of creativity, one holds dear. Will think about your query, very interesting. Thank you for posing the question.

  7. I left my audio response over on Talking On My Morning Walk.

    Hope you find it useful.

  8. Staring at a nearly exhausted personal liquor supply provides not merely a spark, nay, a veritable flamethrower of inspiration for this Hack. Rum is my muse. Har! In truth, I read quite a bit, and when I've read something particularly well done. When I am moved to tears or laughter. Well, I just gotta try harder. It's things of beauty, art, butterflies, high-heels on a shapely leg, the work of your peers, that is inspiration! That and getting money for rum.

Love to participate. Let me know which of the words or combinations you have the least response to and I'll start making some notes. Length? Time frame? Schedule? Just let me know.

  12. Most people seem to be hitting all three pretty equally. There are no requirements to minimum or maximum length. Any word or combination is great. Just be you. Sooner is better than later, but I'm fine with whenever you get it to me. I'm a pretty easygoing person.

Thank you in advance for participating!

  14. When I create or write, I am in the zone but I never start in the zone. Starting is something I do on faith that once begun, something bigger than myself will take over and I will fill in the blanks. The most important things I have learned over the years about these words above are that you don't have to be a wreck to create, you don't have to be super talented, but you do need a strong will and put a lot of time into what you do.

  16. Think this might be what you are looking for, that is from the view point of a writer first, then aspiring knitter.
